I was sickened by the Grammy Awards. It has become like most other self indulgent trumped up awards shows. The winners are not voted on by the fans or by sales or by anything tangible. It is voted on by a select few who think they have the privilege to tell us what to think.
The fact that the Dixie Chicks, YUK!, who receive absolutely no airplay anywhere can sweep five categories is just beyond me. It almost looks as if the Hollywood left wanted to weigh in their opinion on the Dixie Chicks' political issue. Great Job! It just made the Grammy awards and all the winners who have received the awards look that much less accomplished.
Without going into specifics, just go to Billboard.biz and see where and how long their last album remained on the charts. Seems to me Carrie Underwood would have swept more awards based on her phenomenal sales and huge following.
Thank God for the awards shows that weigh in on the tangibles...fan following, album sales, creativity, staying power...at least those shows still have legitimacy.
